Do you have a GPS system in your car?
As some of you mylot-ers may know, I am moving out of state soon to a very metropolitan area. I am a little worried about finding my way around and have been thinking about getting a GPS thing to keep in my car. I don't know anyone who has one, so I'm lookng for some advice from some people who do.>w< Is it worth it to buy one? Do you have to pay for service (like cell phones) for them, or do they work on their own? and If you think I should get one, which do you reccomend? Thanks for your answers in advance.^-^
Can you find the GPS signal easily?
I think my cellphone can't find the GPS signal very soon. Usually it will spend me about 10 minutes finding the GPS signal. Especially it will spend longer time if there are many skyscrapers nearby. Although I have installed some GPS assistant software, but it doesn't have an obvious help. I just found that if I often on the GPS, then next time it can find it sooner. This is why I will turn on my GPS almost everyday to make sure next time it won't spend long time finding the GPS signal.
GPS programs for windows mobile?
What GPS navigation program would you recommend for Windows mobile platform smart phone? I am looking something cheap and good of course free and good would be better.
Cellphone w/ Cam,tv,radio,gps,internet,etc...or mini computer w/ phone function?
cellphones become 'basic' need for people nowdays..and maybe each of us has 2 cellphones, we use it for business and keep us in touch with our family or friends. Cellphone company try to accommodate our need by innovating and developing cellphone tech in telecommunication industry. cellphone today featured with camera,tv, radio, gps, modem, internet, or even with screen projector, etc. I guess in the future the cellphone will be known as a mini computer (multimedia gadget) with phone function.. btw I want that kind of stuff for sure,,who doesn't?...How about you? what cellphone you dream of? ....thxs to bell..
Is Gps a great invention or over hyped?
Another family has been led astray by GPS and this brings the total to 3 during holidays. This time though it almost led to the demise of Jeramie Griffin, his girlfriend and eleven months old baby after taking a shortcut suggested by the GPS tracker that got them stuck in snow. And what should have taken off 40 minutes off the travel time nearly shaved several years off their lives.According to the story carried on the yahoo web site they had no cell service ran out of formula for the child and had filmed their good bye video when they were rescued. This is a link for the story http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100102/ap_on_hi_te/us_stranded_motorists.Luckilythough the two other parties who ended up in snowbanks like Griffins family were also rescued and are now counting their lucky stars and saying that they should have used paper based maps and more common sense. Now is it that travellers need to be know that they cannot follow the system blindly or is it that GPS is an over hyped technology?
How much are you willing to pay for a GPS?
GPS is gaining its popularity in the market, and many people do really want one. Because we don't know every single direction on the road. If you had tendency to lost in the road, a GPS is a the best guide you would have. I just wondering, there were many different prices on all those popular models, such as TomTom, Garmin, etc..... They have price range from $80 - $200. For me, I don't really need an expensive GPS, my TomTom only cost me around $100, and I think that I could get a better deal with it. All I need from a GPS is that it can guide me to a specific direction, and get me to the destination place I specified. Or somehow it can point me a shortcut. So, $100 deal is the best I would want to offer. What about you? Would you rather have a GPS have all those funky functions such as road report, weather forecast etc.....?
How much would you pay for your GPS system?
I have a GPS system, I purchased it from Best Buy, which is Tom Tom. It costed me around $160. It was pretty good one, and I like it. Whenever I lost, or I need to find out where I am going. I always have it handy. The question is, there were many prices for these GPS with different brand name. How much do you actually really need to pay for it? From my experience, I don't need any special features of this TomTom, all I need just a map and the guiding system telling me where I can go. So, probably a GPS with lower than $100 would be perfect for me. Depends on how you gonna use it. I am a penny pincher, so I am super cheap on shopping. What do you think?
