| Great new invention for heavy drinkers | | The kids are off on a sleepover tonight, the wife is out of town on business and I am heading out for a drink with one of my friends. I have been known to imbibe a little too much when it comes to beer and it got me thinking of a possible invention that may just catch on if given the chance....The TBB (Tranquilizer Beer Bottle). The bottle will contain a floating widget (similar to that used in the Guinness draught bottles) which will hold a small breathalyzer unit. As soon as it detects that you are double the legal limit, it will trigger a tranquilizer dart into the roof of your mouth and will knock you out for the night. The widget will also contain a GPS tracking device which will send a signal to your favorite cab company indicating that you have been rendered mute and they will come pick you up....hmmm, that might just work | |

| | Sex Offenders Living Under a Bridge | | MIAMI - Five convicted sex offenders are living under a noisy highway bridge with the state's grudging approval because an ordinance intended to keep predators away from children made it nearly impossible for them to find housing.

Some of them sleep on cardboard raised slightly off the ground to avoid the rats. One of the men beds down on a pallet with a blanket and pillow. Some have been there for several weeks."You just pray to God every night, so if you fall asleep for a minute or two, you know, nothing happens to you," said 30-year-old Javier Diaz, who arrived this week. He was sentenced in 2005 to three years' probation for lewd and lascivious conduct involving a girl under 16.
The conditions are a consequence of laws passed here and elsewhere around the country to bar sex offenders from living near schools, parks and other places children gather. Miami-Dade County's 2005 ordinance — adopted partly in reaction to the case of a convicted sex offender who raped a 9-year-old Florida girl and buried her alive — says sex offenders must live at least 2,500 feet from schools."They've often said that some of the laws will force people to live under a bridge," said...

It seems like we never stop worrying about our children, from the moment they step forth into the world, to their teenage angst driven years, and beyond. Some things never change. | Putting GPS tracking systems on kids | | I read an article in some women's magazine about how you can now track your children (especially teenagers) with their very own GPS systems. It said you could get GPS systems for their cellphones or cars. The article made it sound like a very good idea. However, I think its sort of going too far! These GPS things are making us crazy, and now we're putting them on our kids????? Before you know it, we'll be allowing our children... and ourselves... to have tiny GPS systems inserted under our skin... for our own good, of course! What do you think about this?
